Join Us for Swift Night Out!

Our 2024 event IS RESCHEDULED to Thursday October 3rd from the original date on Thursday September 26th due to anticipated impacts from Hurricane Helene. The event will still be on the roof of the Civic Center Garage. We'll gather at 6:45pm and watch as the swifts will gather overhead before swirling into a nearby chimney after sunset.  We've had as many as 3-4000 swifts in recent years, so please join us for this free event and enjoy the spectacle! For updates in case of inclement weather, please check this website or our Facebook page.

September is Chimney Swift season, an exciting time of year to see swirling clouds of Swifts as they gather at sunset to enter communal roosting sites. Blue Ridge Audubon sponsors Swift Night Out, an annual Chimney Swift viewing event scheduled for dusk in downtown Asheville.

Please check our calendar on this website or our Facebook page for updates.
